As one of the most vibrant and action filled cities in the world,
Acapulco is legendary for its sizzling nightlife, stunning golden
beaches, first class hotels, gourmet restaurants, exciting watersports
and the breathtaking vista of Acapulco Bay.
When you hear the name Acapulco, you immediately
think of leisure and fun. Its location on the Pacific Coast of Mexico
provides the perfect year round tropical climate for all kinds of
day or night time activities. Plus, the rare mix of sandy beaches,
Sierra Madre Mountains, tropical jungles and lagoons. The Mexican
culture and tradition blend together to form a unique experience
for the traveler.
The world renown divers of La Quebrada, who dive from
136 foot rock cliffs into the crashing surf, have become unforgettable
legends of the city. They dive into an extremely narrow inlet where
incoming waves enter and dash over the craggy rocks. The explicit
timing of their dives is critical and must be perfectly executed
to coincide with incoming waves. The shows begin in the early afternoon
and continue into the evening when the divers continue to bedazzle
visitors by diving with lit torches.
The sport fishing in Acapulco, especially sailfish,
is rated as incomparable. Enthusiasts will also appreciate the marlin
(black, blue, white and striped) as well as shark, dorado (or mahi-mahi)
and yellowfin tuna.
The snorkeling and scuba diving here is first rate.
You can enjoy an array of underwater adventure including sunken
ships, walls, sea mountains, shallow & calm dives, caves and
rocky formations. The underwater fantasy thrives among both sandy
and rock bottoms with all kinds of creatures including small coral
formations, sea horses, sea stars, trumpet fishes, jacks, mackerel,
whale sharks and mantarrays depending on water conditions and the
time of year.
Other sports available are tennis, golf, bowling,
beach volleyball, soccer, squash and fronton courts, sailing, wind
surfing and jet skiing.
Not far from the city, Coyuca Lagoon features boat
tours, some truly good water skiing, and unusual and exotic wildlife.
Good freshwater fishing many visitors to this beautiful area. Movie
production has also been quite enamoured by the aura of this gorgeous
scenic area. Movies like Rambo II were partially shot here
as well as some early Johnny Weismueller Tarzan movies, and
