About Acapulco

Located on the Southwest Coast of Mexico, Acapulco's beauty is breathtaking. Soaring mountains
frame one of the world's most
impressive natural harbors, where
the sea meets beaches of golden
sand. At night, thousands of
shimmering lights twinkle from the mountainsides, lighting up the bay.

The city is a beautiful paradise,
amid barren mountains and a primitive coast. This resort is favored among native Mexicans, and many rich and famous from around the world
maintain opulent homes and villas
overlooking the Pacific.

It has the closest beach in proximity
to Mexico City, giving Acapulco a very large urban center as its captive market. In the early 1990s, a four-lane highway cut the driving time between the two cities to a more manageable
three and a half hours.

Acapulco Area Map Guide

Be aware when trying to find your way around Acapulco that street names and numbers are not always logical or well marked. A good example is the street numbers on the main strip (Costera Miguel Aleman). The numbers on addresses have no rhyme or reason. 50 could be followed by 2010, which is next door to 403. The best way to try to find where businesses are located is to find out what beach they are near. The beaches are always a good central starting point. Large hotels are also good landmarks.
