Acapulco Bay

Acapulco Hot Nightspots

Acapulco’s nightlife is legendary and truly a town in which you can party til dawn. You could spend several
weeks in Acapulco doing nothing
more than experiencing the scores of clubs, bars, discotheques and dinner-dances. Nightlife is for all music preferences and for all ages. Night
spots with music or dancing will usually
charge a cover charge around $35..

Most of the clubs and discos are
located along Costera in the hotel
district. They move in and out of
fashion fairly fast but below you
will find some of the larger clubs
that are "hot" at the moment.

Alebrije is a huge glitzy club that can accommodate up to 2,000 people. From 10:30 to 11:30, the music is slow and romantic; afterward there's dance music and light shows until dawn. The most popular night is Friday, when
everyone is bathed in foam.
Av. Costera Miguel Alemán 3308,
Phone: 744/484-5902

Andromeda is magnificent, even in this party city. You enter via a torch-lit moat that leads to the Queen of the Sea's castle; inside, you feel as if you're in a submarine surrounded by mermaids. The place is packed with 18 to 25 year-olds dancing to the latest techno sounds. It's open daily from December to April and on weekends only May to November.
Av. Costera Miguel Alemán 15, Acapulco, Phone: 744/484-8815

Baby O is a private club that sometimes opens its doors to select nonmembers.
It resembles a jungle cave. The crowd
is 25 to 35 and mostly well-dressed, wealthy Mexicans. Av. Costera Miguel Alemán 22, Acapulco,
Phone: 744/484-7474

Discobeach is right on the sands. It's so informal that the under-30 crowd sometimes even turns up in shorts. Every Wednesday, ladies' night, all the women receive flowers. During the day, you can try the bungee jump on the beach. Phone: 744/484-8230

Enigma
has a lavish Egyptian theme
inspired by the Pharaohs and fantastic sound and light systems. It accommodates 700 at a central bar
and in comfortable booths; a glass wall provides an unbelievable view of the bay and, on weekends, a fireworks show. The music is enough of a mix so that there's something for everyone; it all starts at 10:30. Phone: 744/484-7164

Palladium
features a waterfall cascading down from the dance-floor level. The dance floor, surrounded by 50 ft-high by 160 ft wide windows, overlooking the gay gives dancers the eerie sense of being suspended in mid air. European and NY style house music along with hip hop and top hits.
Phone: 744/481-0330

Salon Q, the so-called Cathedral of Salsa, is a combination dance hall and disco, where the bands play salsas, merengues, and other Latin rhythms
for young and old. Weekends shows
of impersonations of Mexican
entertainers and dance contests.
Q Av. Costera Miguel Alemán 23, Acapulco, Phone: 744/484-3252

Zucca attracts a 25-and-up crowd, mainly couples. People really dress up here, with the men in well-cut pants and shirts and the women in racy outfits and cocktail dresses. Singles gravitate toward the two bars in the back. Zucca is snug, and people come here early to dance to music from the '70s, '80s, and '90s. At 2 AM there's a fireworks
display. Phone: 744/484-6727

If you are partying as part of a large group, reservations are advisable for nightclubs. Call in the late afternoon or after 9 PM. Special events like New Year's Eve definitely requires
advance planning.

There are a number of cinemas
along the Costera, showing exclusively American films, in English
with Spanish subtitles.

More traditional entertainment can be found at the Fiesta Mexicana in the Centro Acapulco, which features
three weekly performances by a
troupe of the Ballet Folklórico.
Although the admission is a bit steep,
and the waiters persistent, the large-scale show - around sixty singers, dancers and musicians in full regalia
is undeniably impressive.
